So You Think You Can Dance Canada is based on the Emmy Award-winning smash hit series created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe that premiered in 2005. In its remarkable first season last fall, So You Think You Can Dance Canada became the most-watched new program of the year, attracting more viewers than all other new Canadian and American series.
Canada was captivated by the journey of its first Favourite Dancer, Nico Archambault, 24, from Longueuil, Quebec, quickly making So You Think You Can Dance Canada the #1 new series.
The five-city cross-country audition tour again landed in Vancouver, BC, Montreal, QC, Toronto, ON, and for the first time in Edmonton, AB and Saint John, NB.
So You Think You Can Dance Canada showcases dancers from across the country as they compete to impress an expert panel of judges. In each audition city select competitors were invited to "Finals Week" in Toronto where they work with some of Canada's top choreographers.
After a grueling and challenging week mastering various genres of dance, 20 will earn a coveted spot in the So You Think You Can Dance Canada Top 20. Chosen by the judging panel, this select group of dancers moves forward in the competition to perform in front of the nation. The public votes for their favourites following weekly performance episodes in which competitors are assigned partners and dance styles to perform, from hip-hop and krump to salsa, quickstep, contemporary and jive.
In the end, only one dancer goes home with the title of Canada's Favourite Dancer and a $100,000 grand prize. The winner and runner-up will drive away in a new 2010 Mazda 3 Sport.
So You Think You Can Dance Canada™ is produced in association with CTV by Danse TV Productions Inc. based on the format owned by 19 Entertainment Limited & Dick Clark Productions Inc.
Arrangements for these experiences will be made directly between the bidder and the mentorship provider.
